Exhalation-only versus full flow-volume loops

At times it is necessary to conduct a full flow/volume loop. In this instance the worker will inhale to full the lungs, blow as fast and hard as she can for as long as she can and will then inhale again as fast as she can to reach maximum inspiration. Less information can be derived from the inspiratory loop and for infection control reasons a full flow volume loop is not often conducted.
